Build a culture that encourages whistleblowers

No matter what systems or policies you implement, you still need a culture where employees dare to speak up. 

The board and management needs to communicate that whistleblowers are appreciated for looking out for the company’s best interests and that they will be protected in accordance with the law. 

Having a robust whistleblower system in place signals that the company takes these matters seriously and is a good starting point for the long term work of creating a transparent culture.
